For the present situation, the only way out that I can see is to manually copy the actual video files out of the AVCHD package and into a regular folder, and try importing from there. Control-click, Show Package Contents, and navigate to the actual files, and copy them elsewhere - say, to a folder called "Stuff" on your desktop. The sd card came directly from the camera. When i click on the AVCHD file , quick time opens up a window of clips but doesnt let me export them all to a single folder.
It looks like i have to open each clip and save it. Can you mount the card on the computer and show what's in the import window. Don't select anything inside any folder.

Importing AVCHD Media into Final Cut Pro X
Final Cut Pro X can not only import AVCHD from an HD with no problem as you say, but since from the first version you could create an archive of the camera card the always needed backup of your media -that too many editors forget to do directly in Final Cut Pro itself and the archive would be an exact replica of your card.

Can you recommend a process when the original card structure is not existing anymore? It seems to me that we are still in the stone age when all these things should have been thoroughly dealt with. We act like we are very advanced but still really primitive. Avchd, mts and e. There we are!.
